About Marquardt

The Marquardt Group has been a family-owned company since 1925 when Johannes and Johannes Marquardt founded a "Specialized factory for electrical supplies and fine mechanics" in Reittheim Germany, situated close by Lake Constance and the Black Forest. Together they successfully grew the organization into a major provider of switches for the entire electrical industry with a focus on radio and household appliances.
Marquardt continued to expand on its vision, and became the first company to produce the snap-action switch. During the 1960's Marquardt pioneered the first modules for household appliances as well as the development of the first electronic systems for power tools.
Throughout the 1980's Marquardt expanded into the production of the first rocker and snap action switches for the automotive market. Further internationalization over the past 25 years, with subsidiaries expanding into France, Spain, America, Tunisia, India, China has enabled Marquardt to expand into high-technology markets, developing complex switching systems such as driver authorization, control panel and keyless entry systems for automobiles.
Throughout the middle to late twentieth century, Marquardt has continually strived to "create the future" for a myriad of industries. Since the development of the first switch, Marquardt's vision has been to innovate alongside existing markets, to anticipate what the next leaps in innovation may be, and to make human interaction with everyday technologies more efficient, more comfortable and more reliable.
Today what is commonplace in our lives - the push of a button, the flip of a switch - has only been made commonplace by the efforts and talents of over 4000 employees operating at 11 production locations globally.
